Memoirs of a Vampire - Temptation

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Sarah_Farmer]Sarah Farmer
I lay in bed reading the Count of Monte Cristo, a book I had read many times in French but never in English.
As I lay still in bed with the book opened on my stomach, staring at the ceiling and thinking about the movie, a feeling of dj vu swept over me. With a dawning light-headedness, I had the feeling that I was dreaming and awake at the same time. I stood up and walked downstairs, stepping to the front porch. There he was again, the boy, standing in the darkness next to the wooden swinging chair on the front porch. He was dressed in modern clothing: a pair of jeans, a white shirt, and a jacket.
"It's you," I said, stepping closer to him, but he took a few steps backward. I should be panicking that he knew where I lived. But the excitement in my heart was too great for me to panic.
He had his hands in his pockets. "Yeah, it's me," he said softly, yet with coldness into his voice.
"Who are you?" I asked.
"I can't tell you."
"Are you a vampire?" I stole another look at him. No. The blood running through his veins was fresh.
He chuckled. "No."
"Why are you following me?" I moved closer. He was taller than I was, and one glance into his eyes, my body became weightless as if falling into outer space, being controlled only by gravity. His eyes sparkled like the Orion, yet cold like Aquilo.
"Au contraire, you're following me."
"But I don't even know who you are."
"You don't need to know," he said. "Are we going to do this or not?"
"Do what?" I said in frustration. He only took a step forward and showed me his neck. "You mean feed on you?" I gasped in horror.
He nodded with a smile, and it was beautiful. "Otherwise you'd be dead by now. It's all right."
He tilted his head, baring his neck. I hesitated, but it was almost impossible to resist such blissful temptation. For a moment, I froze and stared at his bare neck, horrified, and yet I could feel the temptation shifting my eyes. I moved closer to him, exposing my fangs as I arched my head. My teeth pricked his smooth skin and lingered there for a while. I felt his heart racing with a mix of fear and passion. He closed his eyes and moaned. My fangs bit into his skin hard, yet he didn't utter a sound. He wasn't new at it.
The sick feeling I felt earlier subsided and was replaced by a perfect rapture that sent a shudder down my spine. It was better than... better than sex, I suppose, since I'd never done it. And it went on and on until I wanted more than blood; I wanted his body too. And everything he was feeling, I felt as well. Whether they were his sensations or mine, I did not know.
"Stop, Fleur," he whispered.
"One last drop," I moaned.
The sweetness of his blood was an ecstasy fluid, and I had never tasted blood so delightful. I had completely forgotten I was standing on Ms. Gaiman's porch. I was feeling a strange change in my body. With my eyes closed, I drank and drank until I couldn't drink no more. I pulled back, wiping my hand across my lips as I studied him. He lay against the wooden wall, stupefied with exhaustion, and he might have collapsed on the porch and slept, but he moved closer to me, trying to feel less dizzy.
"Are you all right?" I said softly.
"Ja," he said.
"Can you tell me your name?"
Whoosh!
The front door burst open, and light poured out on the porch, startling me. Then I heard Ms. Gaiman call out from the doorway, "Fleur! What are you doing in the dark?"
I stood for a moment, not knowing how to answer, until I heard her say, "Oh my god, did you cut yourself? Look at the blood on your hand."
"What?" I said still dazed.
"Come on," she said, putting her arms around me. "Let's get you out of the cold."
She washed my hand in the sink, and was surprised to see that I wasn't wounded. She half supported me up the stairs and into my bedroom. She opened the window only an inch and laid me gently in bed. She was bursting with questions, but she knew I wouldn't be able to give her any rational answers.
"Get some sleep," she said.
I scrunched under the red sheet. Ms. Gaiman closed the door but didn't go downstairs at once. She waited a few minutes before going back to her bedroom. I walked to the window and opened it all the way because I was suffocating. I covered myself from head to toe and shrank under the sheets, tumbling into sleep.
